About Gaia's Gardens

« Meet the Owners

Sarah Moylan

My interest in the outdoors is backed by a long history of working and playing outdoors. We grew up doing a lot of canoeing, hiking, and camping and so it seems only natural that I love spending time in the great outdoors and have developed such a respect for the environment.

  • My interest in gardening also started at a young age, and by high school, I had started working for a small garden centre and greenhouse near my hometown. I continued working there for my summers while I attended Laurentian University, in Sudbury. After I graduated with an honours degree in Earth Sciences, I moved out west for a summer, where I worked for a large landscaping company on a gardening crew, with my sister Erin.
  • I moved back home after one summer in Calgary, and acquired an assistant manager's position at a garden centre in Cambridge. I soon decided that I'd like to return to school to obtain my Horticultural Technician's Certificate, and so I enrolled at Guelph.
  • While at school, my sister, Erin had returned home from Calgary and we began to plan what had been a life long dream, owning our own gardening company.
  • Upon graduation I achieved the Governor General's Academic Medal for the highest academic standing in my program. I also made the Dean's Honour List, and was awarded the Business Accounting award as well as the Business Planning award for the Business Plan created by us for our budding business: Gaia's Gardens.
  • We started out full tilt in the spring of 2004 and have been going strong ever since. Erin bought a farm just outside of Philipsburg in 2007 and we were happy to move our operations there! We both had owned houses in New Hamburg and were ready to have some more space for our growing business!
  • In 2009 we started growing and selling vegetables and herbs from Erin's farm and hope to increase that area of our business, providing lots of local, chemical free produce.

What makes us such a fabulous team is the creativity, imagination, and pride that we put into our work. We have knowledge and experience and absolutely love what we do!
